I’m about to blow my stack, people. If you think you have seen me blow my stack here before, that was NOTHING. NOOOOTHING. Because I am about to dissolve into a raging red puddle of Tabasco-sauce wrathful rage.
YES I AM STILL GETTING UNSOLICITED TELEPHONE CALLS!!
Only this time, it’s so much worse. It’s debt collection agencies, insurance agencies, Verizon Wireless, colleges, lawyers, and credit card companies!!!! And they are all demanding their money!! Or else they will take legal action!
Thing is, none of these calls are for me.
*feeel the burn*
These calls are all for the couple who had my NEW telephone number before me!
HELLO?!?! The reason I ditched my old number was to STOP all the solicitors from calling me constantly, trying to hawk their crap on me! So I change the number; and then I call all my business associates, my 4 friends, my relatives who are still speaking to me…. it took an ENTIRE HOUR to make all those changes!! And for what?? Now I am getting debt collection calls for strangers! And calls from lawyers and bankers, all demanding their money! I get about 7-8 calls A DAY, even on Sunday!!! A good lot of them are automated. Some are personal.

I’m having to come up with a strategy to stop this… at first, I picked up the phone, trying to politely explain to the caller that those irresponsible people changed their number, to run away from their bills, and I am the unlucky broad who gets the number now! They apologized… but the next day or two, they call back!! Unbelievable! And now the calls are increasing, spreading to calls from even more companies wanting their money.
You should see the dark circles around my eyes from running to the phone every half hour or so… only to find that in 99% of the cases, it’s another debt collection agency for these kooks!
Egad. I can’t believe the problems I’ve had with telephone service since I moved here. My first number was the number to a church, so we’d get calls at 3am from people wanting money… and the number was also one digit off from a car parts store, so we also got numerous calls for the parts store… and then telemarketers galore… and now this, and all for $60 a month for the privilege… I’m at the breaking point. I’m seriously thinking of canceling ALL telephones, ALL of them! If people want to talk to me, they can write me a letter!! Gah!

Hi Crabby, I can feel your pain. Had the same problem when I had Verizon as my landline, dumped them and got high speed internet and a magicJack phone. Did not get any more irritating calls after that. Moved to the Philippines, took my computer with me and the magicJack, and now,I only get calls from my Dad in Vegas. I love it. Especially because my Dad never asks for money!

Hi, Crabby. I’m feeling your pain, too. I get debt calls for Patrick xxxxx (same last name as mine). Thing is, I KNOW Patrick. He is my EX’s brother. EX and I divorced in 1986! Patrick never lived with us or shared my phone number. This has been going on for about six years… I scaled back my landline service, put that phone on a recorder, turned the ring waaaaay down and use my cell with friends. Funny, 99% of what comes over the land line is telephone solicitaton. If you dissolve, we’ll scoop up that wrath-flavored tobasco and put it in my 3-alarm chili!

Oh that’s nothing. My brother’s telephone number was one digit off from that of an escort service – Can you imagine HIS unsolicited phone calls LOL After 25 years, he finally dumped his landline. He pig-deadly had refused all these years to change his number. Good Times!

I keep getting calls for an attorney who’s first and last name is the same as my middle and last. Apparently, the local bar can’t get it through their thick skulls that two attorneys may have the same or similar names, even though I have been telling them this for SIX years. It’s not the calls that worry me. What I worry about is that one day this other attorney, who is a criminal lawyer, is going to lose a big case. Then the clients’ family is going to get revenge by calling the bar for the attorney’s address, getting my address instead, showing up at my house, & shooting me.
For awhile there, I also kept getting calls for someone who kept giving people my number every time she went to the doctor and didn’t pay. The collections agencies never believe that you’re not her or it was a typo. They’d rather pretend it’s you.
