Way back when, loooong time ago— like, 2001 or so— remember when blogs used to be mostly text? You know– LETTERS. WORDS. Stuff you had to read and comprehend. No “Dick and Jane” stuff. I think those days are long gone. Today, blogging is a lot like how radio is, Howard Stern style. Howard-Stern-bloggers can’t just write about, oh, say New York Yankees tickets or the weather; no, they have to insert shocking images to get your attention.
Whatever happened to WRITING? To THINKING? Why must everything be presented on its shock value or sex appeal? Or, in this case, it’s repulsiveness? Why why? What happened to reason and intelligent discourse in this world?
And why did I even feel the need to insert a shocking image to get my point across?

I agree. I’d rather just read text than seeing images stuck in between paragraphs…it detracts from the reading.

After many long talks with other bloggers, we have reached the conclusion that a large group, if not most, bloggers, are ADD types, and a lot of text is usually ignored. The pictures are helpful, and some blogs are, in essence, driven by images.
Personally, I like pictures as they often help tell the story. What I detest is videos, except in the most ususual of situations. If I wanted to watch videos all day, I’d just hang at youtube and pick the ones I want to watch.
