Crimes Shifting to Smaller Towns

I guess the cities are no longer the money makers they once were. None of the criminals go there anymore, it’s too crowded. Rather, criminals are now entering the boundaries of sweet suburban living and small town America. Gee, it’s a regular Hollywood movie out there….

:(

Did you ever wonder if more crimes occurred in the summer than the winter? Or if one seemingly “nice” town or city actually has more crime than that decrepit old town with the run-down shacks? I found a very cool website that shows crime rates for the biggest cities. It’s called Trulia. I think it’s pretty neat! It’s no where NEAR as comprehensive as it should be, though. They really need to work on that. This stuff is important. I want to know where all the crimes are so I can avoid the place like the plague. The website covers all the “big cities” and I didn’t see any small towns on there.

I think there has been a dramatic rise in crime in small towns. My small town is seeing a LOT more break-ins, violent domestic incidents, and now we are faced with drug crimes and gangs. I live in a town with a population of under 900!!!!! It’s insane. My neighbors down the street were busted for drug dealing. Further down, there was a drive-by shooting a few weeks ago. And I saw in the news that, after a sting operation, cops discovered heroin, loaded guns and bullet proof vests in a home nearby.

Crime is getting so bad in my area that the cops have stings?!

The politicians had better lower these property taxes real quick like. It’s bad enough, paying such exorbitant taxes in a nice neighborhood. It’s cruel and unusual punishment to make us pay thousands upon thousands of dollars for an area plagued by crime and drugs. Good God.

Some neighbors are so concerned that they are getting g*ns and other means to protect themselves. Others are getting testoripped so they can pound the criminals into the ground.

Me, I’m practicing The Look to make these losers melt like jello under a hairdryer.

Epsilon Makes Me So Mad, I Could….

:explode: !!!!!!

Just read a Kim Komando article about *the latest* on the massive Epsilon data breach. I could scream, I tell you.

This data breach reported by a company by the name of Epsilon keeps getting more and more interesting. Epsilon handled the email marketing campaigns for major companies like Chase, Best Buy, Target and others. More than 2,500 companies use Epsilon to manage their client email lists.

If you bought anything from any of these companies or registered your email address with them, your name and email address could have been compromised. Millions of people have been affected.

Until recently, the main result of this breach was increased spam. Some people also received basic phishing email from online swindlers. That isn’t very surprising.

Now, Epsilon says if you registered your name and email address at a GlaxoSmithKline Website for certain prescription and nonprescription drugs, watch out. The bad guys have your name, email address, and they also know what drugs you might be taking.

OK, I don’t do the Glaxo thing. But the PRINCIPLE of the issue is what enrages me!!!! These people need to get their act together, have a major Mega Meeting web video conferencing meeting and make some heads roll! There is NO EXCUSE for the constant theft of OUR information. It’s making me so sick I could puke.

Worst of all, we– the little guys– are powerless. Powerless. Totally unAmerican this is. GAH

Thank God for “The System,” Or, Garth Brooks, Just Shut Up & Sing

Well, this was a surprise coming from *another* celebrity. CNS News has a story about Garth Brooks talking about the Oval Office and how difficult the job must be for good ol’ PBO.

Wait wait wait!! Wait a second. “The system” did he say? Don’t you mean the U.S. Constitution, Mr. Brooks? Like, the entire LAW of the LAND?!

“Yeah, I think what President Obama is finding out is all that we want to do, the system kind of doesn’t allow the most powerful guy in the world to kind of do his job and I’m sure nobody’s more frustrated than him to complete those promises that he did and I think he’s trying his heart out. I love him to death and I fully support him and I just wish him well because it’s got to be hell in that office.”

No, it isn’t “all” that “we” want to do. I am kinda partial to the Constitution. We aren’t going to throw out the very founding documents that made this country great AND protect our freedoms just because you “love Obama” and Obama needs to “do his job.” It’s the Constitution that MAKES Obama president, hello!!! Some folks have heads too big to fit their ten gallon hats, I tell ya.

Folks, I’m sorry. I’ve been trying to be funny and not as crabby, but yow. Stories like this make me scairt. I need to go bury myself into seo moz again to lower my blood pressure…

The Birds

Ever see that old Alfred Hitchcock movie The Birds? Where The Birds attack people in crazed flocks, feathers flying everywhere?

That ol’ Alfie wasn’t too far off.

Have you heard about this?! A robotic SPY hummingbird!! Oh, the US military’s research arm, the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) is going bonkers over how successful it is. They have a video at that link, where you can see the bird fly and see what it sees as it’s flying.

I have a question.

WHAT the heck is this FOR?!

Why are they developing SPY hummingbirds– Northeastern hummingbirds?!
:duncehat:
I’ll bet I don’t look so paranoid, now, huh? I told you this was coming! They are going to be sending flying drones– just like those flying monkeys in the Wizard of Oz!!– to spy on us all! It’s absolutely creepy!

Well, I’ll you what. How about we get a whole bunch of young geniuses to take tech courses and get some tech jobs and develop some robotic cats! That’ll teach ‘em! Who’s game???

Sorry…

Sorry I haven’t been very humorous lately, folks. I guess I’m on a literal crabby streak. I’ve been reading the news headlines, and they have me very worried. I don’t know about you, but I’m too nervous and creeped out to be very funny or find things funny right now….

This Is Just Creepy

This is just sick. Makes me sick! Read this article. Tell me if that phrase “government’s role in health care” gives you the shivers like it gives me the shivers.

Senate Panel Previews Electronic Health Technology

The Senate Committee on Aging last week offered a preview of the government’s future role in health care, showing how Americans will interact with doctors and other health care providers. The demonstration offers a glimpse at an overlooked effect of health care reform.

The effort, loosely called e-Health or e-Care, combines health-care technology with 21st-century Internet connectivity. It will allow doctors to interact with their patients through innovations such as video chats, telephone health checkups, and home-health monitoring devices that relay data over wireless Internet connections.

Home-health monitoring devices? Hey, I like the Internet…. it’s a great place to get information on best term life insurance quotes or whatever. But I want to be in control of me, ok?

“The development of the broadband network and health information technologies has the potential to truly transform health care and simultaneously enable better outcomes and lowering costs,” said Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine).

One of the new health technologies on display last Thursday was an automatic drug dispenser that can monitor and adjust medication dosages wirelessly, allowing doctors to tailor dosages of drugs such as insulin without having to schedule in-person visits with patients.

“What we’re talking about, folks, is using a device like this one,” Sen. Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) said, as he displayed the small device. “It attaches to the patient’s skin and is loaded with drugs that are administered in the exact way that the doctor prescribes – wirelessly.

“That means that a doctor can vary the doses based on the information the doctor is receiving [from the monitor]. The patient doesn’t have to go in to the doctor and then the pharmacy to change his or her prescription,” he said.

So is this the reason for the government mandate to get everyone connected with broadband??

Am I the only one really creeped out about this? The government is forcing us to have their health “care.” Then they force us to get rigged to the computers, to have drugs or whatever dispensed by SOMEONE ELSE through a WIRELESS connection. This is INSANE.

These senators act like they have a bunch of new toys to play with. Us.

What the heck ever happened to getting the government out of our bodies, huh???????? Where’s Betty Friedan and Jane Fonda now?!
