Hoh boy! Hello, New Yorkers! Here’s more of your wasted tax dollars at work! New York State government claims that we have a “Canadian Geese problem”! So they plan to knock off TWO-THIRDS of the geese. Can you believe it?! According to the Huffington Post, “400 geese in Prospect Park were euthanized and the U.S. Department of Agriculture has been removing the birds from several locations near JFK and LaGuardia Airports.” A goofy state senator held a “vigil” for the dearly departed, saying there were more human ways to get them out of here.
This was shocking to me. Are the geese terrorists? Menaces? What is wrong with the geese that is causing such a sharp, reaction?
Well, apparently, there are two things: the geese slam into airplanes (as what happened to the Hudson flight a few years back– remember that captain who landed the plane on the Hudson River?). And secondly, too many geese are flooding our parks and backyards, leaving their gooey geese dung all over the grass.
I find it unconscionable that the government wants to kill the geese. The geese are basically harmless! If the government just REALLY REALLY wants to kill something, how about all the DEER that are everywhere!!!! The deer are a total menace! They have exploded in numbers, and eat EVERYTHING in sight. And to the people who hate walking in geese dung at the park– WATCH WHERE YOU ARE WALKING!
How’s them diamonds?!
I think we should save the geese.
