I think I love this town board. The town of Kiryas Joel, in New York State. They are getting a ton of flack for a town welcome sign, but I think they are wonderful!
Basically, the folks in the town ask people to dress modestly and maintain gender separation in public areas. What a concept— love your neighbor!! But the poor townsfolk are under fire because some people “feel” that their right to dress like sluts and acts like monkeys in heat is being taken away.
Here’s the CBS video about it, for what it’s worth.
I love the idea! I find it unconscionable that it’s the decent people who are getting the flack. Don’t we have obscenity laws on the books somewhere? Where is the “right” to dress half-nude and act obscenely? It used to be that doing so was a crime in this country. So you don’t like the “atmosphere” in Kiryas Joel? Well, go somewhere else for your motorhome repairs, that’s not too hard.
And if you read the news story, the complainers say that the men don’t mind the slutty attire at all, it’s only the (“jealous”) women making problems. Well, IF that is even TRUE, it may be because if the men approached the tightly-dressed complainers, they’d get slapped with a lawsuit for “sexual harassment.” Just because the men aren’t screaming at you doesn’t mean that they like to see your butt line through your skin-tight short-shorts.
The world is upside down. When did this happen? How can it be that folks who care about decency and morals and guidelines and society are now the bad guys? Why is nudity or nudity wanna-bee suddenly the new “freedom”?
