For months, I’ve ranted about how spammers were essentially destroying my blogs, not to mention my sensibilities– the filth in some of that spam makes my hair stand up. If you don’t have a WordPress blog, you have NO IDEA the filth that comes in spam form. This isn’t the standard “best way to lose belly fat” stuff, this is real horrid junk. What IS IT with WordPress blogs that gets it?! I never had such a time with spam with my Blogger blogs. Yick.
So anyway, I was spending a lot of time deleting spam. So a friend suggested Ban and Bad Behavior on top of Akismet, and it’s working! Hurray!
However, I’ve also heard reports that some people are not getting through to my blog, and are sometimesnot able to leave comments. For some reason, the software thinks you are a spammer. I don’t know how to fix this yet; I’ll look into it.
But spam is LOSING!! Haha!!

May be high time for me to change my spam monitoring software too. I have been using Akismet but it doesn’t seem very useful. Every time I logged in, I have at least a dozen spam comment to delete.

BK — Be glad. This morning I had 103 to delete. I probably get between 200-300 a day. It’s a royal pain to eyeball them to make sure one didn’t get tagged as spam that was a legitimate comment. Crabby, mine are horrid, too. Not what I want to see first thing in the morning when I haven’t had my coffee yet. Geesh.

I guess I’m really lucky, I don’t ever get spam on blogger. Of course I probably just jinxed myself. Who does this stuff anyway and what is the point? Simply to be annoying? They need to get a life for goodness sakes.

Multiply that by 800 and that was my day….
Kathy– have had the same problem. I am using the Ban plugin and the Bad Behavior, which so far have been effective.
Buggys– I have no idea why jerks do it. I wish I knew! I could clobber those creeps!!!
