Avoiding the “C” Word

While hashing through news headlines today (but finding more depth and newsworthiness in ads for diet pills), I stumbled across a news story at WorldNetDaily. Interesting!

What do you think of this? President Obama seems to have this little problem with the “C” word, is that right? The word: Creator. As in the Creator who endowed us with inalienable rights, like it says in the Declaration of Independence.

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness…

WorldNetDaily reports that President Obama, for the third time in public, has refused to mention the “C” word when quoting the Declaration.

“It has to do with this idea that was started by 13 colonies that decided to throw off the yoke of an empire, and said, ‘We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that each of us are endowed with certain inalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.’”

The offense is that, in his public statement, Obama is directly quoting (not paraphrasing) the founding fathers. And he’s quoted it wrong. THREE times.

Does he think that if he doesn’t mention it anymore, no one will remember it? Wouldn’t it be the absolute DREAM if politicians really got Americans to believe that we get our rights from government? Then they can do ANYTHING they want!

I give WorldNetDaily a lot of credit for making a big stink about this. It’s causing a small firestorm among the REAL media and causing Americans to consider this aspect of the Declaration again.

The founding fathers were KINDA picky about where they got their rights. We don’t get them from the king. We don’t get them from committees. We don’t get them from the evolutionary process or from talking heads or from government bureaucrats or elected officials. We get our RIGHTS from GOD. The CREATOR. I think those old guys knew what they were talking about.

The Building Permit

I got this from the PatriotPost humor email… OOOOOO this is SO BAAAAAD. But it’s SOOOO GOOOOOOD.

I recently submitted a building permit application for a new house.

It was going to be 100 ft. tall and 400 ft. wide with 9 gun turrets at various heights and windows all over the place and a loud outside entertainment sound system. It would have had parking for 200 cars and I was going to paint it snot green with pink trim.

The City Council told me to forget about it.

So, I sent the application in again, but this time I called it a Mosque.

Work starts on Monday.

Prejean Christianity

I don’t follow the news very much, especially the nauseating celebrity news. But Glenn Beck mentioned Carrie Prejean (uh, again) recently, and it made me wonder about her. I know she was the Miss California bikini babe… and didn’t she become Miss World or Miss Universe or Miss Ississippi or something? And then news “broke” out about how she posed “inappropriately” (read: nude) for a magazine? And now there’s some chatter about a s*x tape she supposedly made when she was 17?

[INSERT: :holycow: A WHAT?!?! When she was HOW OLD?!?!?! Just out of diapers, was it??]

Now, didn’t I hear a couple of months ago that Carrie Prejean said she was Christian? Didn’t she say something like this, quoted from CNN:

“I am a Christian, and I am a model,” she said. “Models pose for pictures, including lingerie and swimwear photos.”

Wait wait wait: Models may do this and that… but what about Christians? Christians DON’T pose in lingerie and swimwear photos. So what ARE you, Miss Prejean.. a model or a Christian? Because you can’t really be both. And let’s all face it– swimwear and lingerie companies don’t NEED models to hawk their stuff. They can sell their goods WITHOUT catalogs full of half-naked girls, yes they can. So I don’t think that it’s swimwear and lingerie that’s being sold here, do you?

She said the photos “have been released surreptitiously to a tabloid Web site that openly mocks me for my Christian faith.”

Oh, honey, you’re doing JUST fine all by your little self.

“I am not perfect, and I will never claim to be,” she said. “But these attacks on me and others who speak in defense of traditional marriage are intolerant and offensive. While we may not agree on every issue, we should show respect for others’ opinions and not try to silence them through vicious and mean-spirited attacks.”

Rrrrrrrright. Ooooook. So you can be a Christian AND a nude model for Victoria’s Secret AND not be perfect. Well, I guess Jesus just didn’t know what He was talking about when he said, “Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.” (Matt 5:48). If I recall, that’s from the Sermon on the Mount, where Jesus in the same breath also said that looking at women to lust after them is adultery. Plus, I have an inkling that Miss Prejean has NO IDEA what Jesus meant when He said to be perfect, nor does she exhibit any desire to discover the meaning. Because while I don’t think Jesus meant that we are to be without mistake, ever, He SURELY didn’t mean that it was a-OK to pose nude or semi-nude in magazines because, well, we’re all *just* flawed human beings and can’t be perfect any-old-way!

Seems to me that this “flavor” of “Christianity,” which is becoming more and more prevalent amongst the young people in this country, is not Christianity at all. This kind of Prejean Christianity is basically just non-Jewish and non-Muslim, and therefore by default, is “Christianity.”

I made a handy-dandy little list for you, dear Reader, that you might use to detect the doctrines of Prejean Christianity:stupid4breakf

  • How LITTLE can I do for God and still be considered a Christian?
  • When I sin and get caught, call everyone “mean-spirited”!
  • When I sin and get caught, I must defend my sin and my past “mistakes,” and proclaim that “I’m not perfect” or “showed bad judgment.”
  • When I sin and get caught, do something WILD and CRAZY– like defend some Conservative pet project and that will make ‘em come running to defend me!
  • Know that blonde, naked teenager photos will end almost all dissent, and turn even “conservative” talk-show hosts into a blithering pool of drool unable to defend basic decency and Christian precepts– except for crabby women and real Christians, who cannot be fooled.
  • Publicity is good, even if it’s a reproach against Christianity! Because at LEAST Christianity is being talked about!
  • When people disagree with me, claim persecution and intolerance!
  • The Bible doesn’t mean what it says. What I FEEL at the time is more meaningful.
  • There is no hypocrisy posing nude in catalogs marketed for men’s lusts, and defending “traditional” marriage, not at all!
  • We just won’t agree on everything, now, will we? So let’s just agree to disagree! Ok? Ok?

You Can’t Take It With You

A man, nearing his end of days on the earth, told his wife, “I’m determined to take my life savings with me when I die.” He instructed her to pack up all their money into a suitcase, which he promptly stuffed into a corner of the attic of his house.

He gleefully told her, “This is what I’m going to do– after I die, I’m going to grab the suitcase on the way up. I’ll take it all with me and be rich in the afterlife!”

So the day came, and the man died. His wife hesitated for a few days, but she could bear the suspense no longer. She timidly walked up the stairs to the attic, only to find the suitcase with money still sitting in the corner, untouched.

She pondered for a moment, then exclaimed, “Oh dear! I suppose we should have put the money in the basement.”

A newly deceased man approached the Pearly Gates, carrying a heavy sack. He walked up to St. Peter at the gate. Peter spotted the bag, and stopped the man from continuing through the gates.

“Sir, I’m sorry; you can’t take anything with you beyond this gate.”

The man stopped in shock. He looked at St. Peter and said, “I’ve worked my entire life for what’s in this bag! I refuse to leave it behind!”

St. Peter repeated his statement, “Sir, I’m sorry, but you cannot take this with you. That’s our policy.”

The man was adamant. “I’m not going in unless I can take it with me!”

Peter’s curiosity was slightly aroused. “Sir, what is in that bag that is so precious?”

The man, beaming with joy, opened up the bag and hefted out a very large, shiny gold brick. He held it up for Peter to admire.

Peter stared. “Pavement?!?”

U.S. Government Sets Up App Store and Cloud Computing for Public Records

(CNN) — The Obama administration has unveiled a government “app store” designed to push the federal bureaucracy into the era of cloud computing.

The change means some federal employees will begin using services like YouTube, Gmail and WordPress, which store data on private Internet servers instead of on those paid for with public money.

The process will start small but will ramp up quickly, Vivek Kundra, the U.S. chief information officer, said in a blog post on Tuesday.

“Our policies lag behind new trends, causing unnecessary restrictions on the use of new technology,” Kundra writes in the post on WhiteHouse.gov.

“We are dedicated to addressing these barriers and to improving the way government leverages new technology.”

The app store is designed for federal employees doing official government business and is not intended for use by the public.

Also on Tuesday, Google announced the creation of a “government cloud,” in which public data will be stored on Google computer servers by 2010. According to a Google blog post, this dedicated space will serve the needs of federal, state and local governments.

With “cloud computing,” users access applications that exist online instead of on their computers’ hard drives.

Both projects are designed to save the government money and to give government employees access to tools sometimes used in the private sector. The measures fall in line with the Obama administration’s efforts to get the federal government up to speed with the latest technologies.

Kundra wrote that the cost savings could be significant. The federal government spends $75 billion per year on data storage and other information technology costs, he wrote.

Golly, I’ve got an idea– STOP STORING SO MUCH INFORMATION!! Hello?! Does the government REALLY need to know Americans’ bathroom habits? Our business insurance costs? To harvest DNA of every living citizen?? To monitor our cars and food and health care??? No!

And all this is beside the point– Do you REALLY trust the government with YOUR information stored on computers online, in one big basket? The government can’t even manage keeping our Social Security numbers off IRS mailing labels! Give me a break!

I don’t know about you, but I am SICK of the government encroaching more and more and more into my life. I want them OUT. :fryingpan:

Why Do People Dismiss Christian Music?

I’ve wondered this for years. I canNOT believe the absolute crap that our culture will tolerate, calling it music. I mean– Britney Spears?! Mick Jagger?! Paris Hilton?!?!!?!?! I used to work in radio, I know a thing or two about pop music, BMI, Top 40 charts, etc. For years, the logic behind the tastes of modern music has eluded me.

Then a few years ago, I read a news story about SONY paying off certain radio stations to play their music and fabricate their placement in the charts.

Ah yes, it all became clear then.

And why are Christian music artists so dismissed? They even had to create their own music awards show– the Dove Awards– because the Grammy goons wouldn’t give them an inch. Have you ever heard the music of Steven Curtis Chapman? Hillsongs? Delirious? Libera? Keith Green? Why not? Why aren’t these people allowed to have their songs played on the radio? Why must their music be sidelined for only “Christian” radio stations? Are people alergic to songs about God? Or is there some bigoted reason? Its certainly not because Christiansdon’t produce superior quality music, because a good deal of their music is far superior in quality and production to a lot of the gunk piping through the radio transmitters.

Here’s a good example of an INCREDIBLE singer. I have never heard of this guy– Aled Jones. Apparently, he is from Wales, England. His singing is just stunning.

Why aren’t guys like him on “regular” radio stations?? It’s so unfair. And why are all singers looking the same? I mean, you have to be really slinky like you’re promoting best weight loss pills or something, have slinky clothing, and a “come hither” look to even get a record deal. Who cares what people LOOK LIKE?! It’s MUSIC.

It just totally eludes me.
