Clinging to This Today….

Hoh boy, it’s going bonkers out there in the cruel, cruel world these days. It’s enough to make a girl want to hide her head in one of those cushy down jackets and escape the world. My blood pressure has been through the roof lately. Well, it sure feels that way.

So I turn to the psalms for a good dose of reality. We are all just dust, right? Some more than others…. haha! That’s a JOKE.

Anyway…. here’s the psalm. Isn’t it perfect?!

Psalm 37

A Psalm of David.
1 Do not fret because of evildoers,
Nor be envious of the workers of iniquity.
2 For they shall soon be cut down like the grass,
And wither as the green herb.

3 Trust in the LORD, and do good;
Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness.
4 Delight yourself also in the LORD,
And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

5 Commit your way to the LORD,
Trust also in Him,
And He shall bring it to pass.
6 He shall bring forth your righteousness as the light,
And your justice as the noonday.

7 Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for Him;
Do not fret because of him who prospers in his way,
Because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass.
8 Cease from anger, and forsake wrath;
Do not fret—it only causes harm.

Exactly. It causes harm. No fret, no sweat. Lord, help me.

Anderson Cooper Targaryen

Who’s your daddy?

I don’t know a whole lot about the George R.R. Martin medieval fiction series (and why do medieval fiction writers always have TWO middle names??), but I know enough about the Targaryen characters to make me do a double-take when I look at Anderson Cooper. Does this guy keep dragons???

He’s a dead ringer for the dynasty, wouldn’t you say? I mean, he could give Viserys a run for his money with father’s gift basket ideas and all, ya think?

Photo is from Wikipedia. That’s so that no major news media outlet could sue me for “copyright infringement” for using a photo. So there. :-p

Please Please Please, Oh God…

PLEASE, dear Lord, allow this man to become president. Make some kind of miracle.

Did you see what Ron Paul said he was going to do? Eliminate five Cabinet-level departments, bring the American soldiers back home, and SLASH taxes. He says his plan will totally eliminate the national debt in THREE YEARS.

*on knees, praying*

Oh please oh please….

Can you imagine what would happen to our country should we balance the federal budget?! We’d — like — have FREEDOM again in this country. Imagine no more “wars” abroad! Imagine no extortion-level taxes! Imagine the economy coming back, manufacturing coming back, terrific houses for rent, houses for sale, the whole housing industry bouncing back!!!

Oh PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESE…

Goodbye, Summer

I can’t say it’s been the bets of summers. We saw terrible flash flooding multiple times this year… dozens of tornadoes… an earthquake…. my gardens are disasters form the floods… and the economy is a wreck with social unrest….

Still, it’s sad to see summer go. I really hate the summer heat but I do love the summer freedom– no need to wrap yourself up in big parkas and boots, to shovel the driveway and chip the ice off the windshield, to pray all the way to your destination because the roads are so bad— summer’s so GREEN. So FRESH. I will miss the flowers and birds and sunshine.

One of the perks about gloomy winter is that you can still get or send flowers. :D No need to suffer when it comes to that. As a matter of fact, those store-bought flowers are often much better looking than my best home-grown flowers from the gardens. :S How is that?

I do tolerate winter. Mr. Crabby calls me his “winter woman”: warmth in the winter and shade in the summer.

:grump: Is that supposed to be a compliment or should I bonk him with my rolling pin? Hm.

Anyway, it’s all winding down whether we like it or not. I hope and pray the winter won’t be as bad as summer was….

In a Crazy World, Seek Comfort In….

LOL Cats.

Ha! I need one of those. I wonder if LOL Cats also does equipment lease? I need some scratching posts and PLENTY of catnip. I made the mistake of reading the news headlines again, and I’m feeling mighty depressed right about now. :-p

Is it just me? Is this all really true? Is our country really going down the toilet? Everything is so scary right about now. It’s just insane. I want to hide in my bed and cuddly up with my starter cats….

No Insurance = Suffering Twice

Oh dear. :( There’s a news story in my local paper. A little girl was riding her bike on the side of the road a few days ago, and some jerk hit her. He took off– a hit and run — and today the cops found the guy. I saw photos of the bike– it was a mangled mess. My heart broke into a billion little pieces. How could that man just drive off? The girl is in serious condition in a hospital. She’s not from around here (from another state). The man is a local guy. The girl’s parents must be going bananas. I once had to take my child to an out-of-state hospital for an emergency. It was absolutely scary. A hospital is traumatic enough, but a strange hospital where you are far away from home is very difficult to deal with.

And think of the hospital bills! My insurance would not cover my daughter’s out-of-state bill unless I took her to the emergency room. It was crazy!

I think today’s children need more protection than when we were kids. Remember back then– we could walk the streets and visit the neighbors and jump in the ponds and do so much! Today, there seems to be so many threats out there– creepy old men, EEE and West Nile, Meningococcal disease, the “superbug” disease… and idiots who crash into kids on bikes and drive off… :( Top that all off with the out-of-control costs of medical expenses, and it’s just scary! Today, a kid almost NEEDS children’s trauma insurance to be there just in case the child gets a critical illness. My husband used to sell insurance– called “critical illness cover,” the insurance is a very low cost way to cover a child in case the child becomes ill. Children’s insurance is usually SUPER inexpensive, and the benefits of the insurance are worth their weight in gold should the child contract a disease or suffer trauma. You can read more about the issue and coverage at the website link, above.

Kids are so precious. You just can’t NOT afford to protect them every way possible today.
