Hold on to your hats, folks, I’m-a gonna try updating this blasted thing.
By “blasted,” I refer to WordPress. Holy cow, this software gets more updates than Joan Collins’ face and diet pill reviews. Sheesh. Whatever happened to “easy”? Well, in all reality, I should give the WordPress dudes some credit. They’ve made it easier to update, now. You just have to backup everything, update plugins, and hit the “Please update now” link. In theory, anyway. I haven’t ever tried it yet. I have been too scared to do it (which explains why I’m still using 2.7)– but my point is that I only updated a couple of months ago!! I have to do it again?!
On the brighter side, I remember the “good old days” when we had to use an FTP program and manually drag folders and files into perfectly-placed directories. Ugh. Not too easy. I always had to disable my Internet router’s firewall in order to use my FTP program, too, and do all sorts of hoops and hurdles just to get started. It was such a DRAG, a dreaded chore. But at least I never killed my blogs or anything. I’ve helped out a few people who have had some serious problems. It makes you wonder why these people ever GOT a self-hosted blog. I mean– it’s WORK to maintain a self-hosted blog, and you have to know what you’re doing. With some folks, I just shake my head, because they are without a clue.
Yes, I am procrastinating. *sigh* Time to hit the big red button. Hold on to your hats!
UPDATE: *sweating bullets*
I think it worked! It actually worked!

I’m with ya sister. I sometimes long for the Blogger days when I didn’t have a care in the world, except for always worrying a little that Google would somehow destroy my blog and I wouldn’t have any recourse. Now the blowing-up thing is my gig. Glad it worked!
